Hello/Intro KerryReturn to index of stories... |
Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to this special edition of New Hampshire Outlook-- as we take a look back.at some of our "favorite" stories of the year. 2004 of course, was a big political year for New Hampshire.especially with our First in the Nation presidential primary on January 27-th. The Granite State was inundated with campaign appearances at the beginning of the year -- by Democrats like John Kerry, vying for his party's nomination. |

With New Hampshire considered a battleground state, those campaign appearances picked up again in the weeks leading up to the general election, November 2-nd. President George Bush and John Kerry were both frequent visitors-- each hoping to win New Hampshire's four electoral votes. |

New Hampshire Outlook went into overdrive this year covering the candidates' numerous political stops in this state. But it's the story of a Hampton man that spoke out about embryonic stem cell research during a visit by John Kerry -- that particularly stands out. Producer Phil Vaughn sat down with Brian Hall in October following Kerry's visit. |
Intro ReunionReturn to index of stories... |
From politics to a special family reunion. This next story was certainly a memorable one -- as a N-H woman was reunited with her brother after searching for him for 32 years. They saw each other for the first time in June at Manchester Airport when Paul LeBare arrived from Florida. Chip Neal sat down to talk with the long-lost siblings after they'd had a few days to catch up on memories and the years gone by. 1:10 - 1:14 |

Susan recently told Chip she's been keeping in touch with her brother since that first meeting. They plan to meet again in June -- this time on his turf --in Florida. |

When it comes to the Arts -- Edra Toth's story.was right on pointe. The prima ballerina, who has charmed audiences the world over -- opened a studio in New Hampshire this year. We paid a visit to the former dancer-turned-teacher -- to see how she works her magic with children. |

In the picturesque Lakes region in the town of Wolfeboro, a one-time prima ballerina passes on her love of ballet to aspiring young dancers. TR 2: Wide-eyed 4-year-olds learn the language of ballet and the moves that go with it. Their teacher, Edra Toth -- was their age -- when she and her family fled Hungary to escape a bloody uprising in 19-56. 5:50:19/ we left with nothing but the clothes on our backs…and my grandmother was told if you don't hear from us within the year, we didn't make it. TR 3: Her family eventually settled in the Boston area. By age 6 - Edra had discovered the joys of dancing. A landlord offered to bring Edra to her daughters dance lessons - enthralled with her teacher, it was love at first step. TR 4: |

Edra Toth lives in Farmington and also operates a studio in Hudson, MA. Her hope -- is to open a fully functioning performing arts center in the town of Wolfeboro -- which would allow her to introduce even more children to the art of dance. |
